Im currently setting up a DNN site on shared hosting (CrystalTech), and I used the hosting account control panel's automatic tool to install v4.5.0.  Now, Im assuming there is a good reason why v4.5.1 was rushed out within only months of 4.5.0 coming out (ie. bug fixes?), so I'm thinking I should upgrade before I get too far into the process (have been using 4.5.0 for 2 weeks).  So here are my questions:

1. Is it worth the trouble to upgrade from v4.5.0 to v4.5.1?  Is there a version history or something like that available for me to determine the differences?

2. If I do upgrade, whats the best way for me to do so?  I dont want to start from scratch since I trust the hosting account's automated setup more than if I did my own (but 4.5.1 wasnt available).  In reading the readme.txt file and forum posts I gather that the main way to upgrade is to unzip the upgrade package on top of my current file structure.  However, this doesnt seem that easy in a hosted situation situation since my only access to the files is through FTP.  Do I have to go through each folder/subfolder and replace each folder's contents individually, or can I just delete some or all folders so that I can upload their replacements all at once (ie. including subfolders)?

Any other advise you think I should know would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know this is a perrenial problem with upgrading DNN

I would guess that you havent had any timely rational replies as the 4.5.2 version is an even quicker fix that is now a release candidate in use on the DNN home site, the listing I saw seems to state there are oodles of things fixed and a number of extras thrown in.

The core team seem to be loosing sight of the real issue that users want - i.e. stable easily installed code - I use a host intaller too and have found their it very effective - so feel a lot of sympathy with your approach

I would suggest sorting out a back up and restore policy as a matter of priority as this seems to be the only reliable way of upgrading without loosing data

Maybe the powers that decide will release some SQL scripts that make this task a lot easier - there are modules available but I havent had time to look at them - seems I am caught in the same trap as the core team on this one
