A previous post reported 'isses' with installing DNN 4.5.1 and the Default.aspx file, first line in the file and a debug error reported with VWD2005 Express. The fix, at least one that now works for me is -

I did check, recheck all configurations and confirmed that all was as suggested, correct. The 'error' reported by VWD2005 Express had to do with the element FORM. A check at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en=us/library/x3z85bs0(vs.71).aspx identified that with Visual Studio, "A FORM element cannot be embedded within a parent FORM element." I thought that this was the real issue (actually, I had no idea). Further insight was that the page identifying these details of  programming was that this page was specific to Microsoft Visual Studio2003/.NET Framework 1.1

Reconfiguring the paramenters from ASP.NET from v2.0.50727 to v1.1.4322 permitted the program to compile past the first line to the web.config file and an issue with configuration of the database SQL server. Swapping back again from ASP.NET v1.1.4322 to 2.0.50727,  the installation continued and completed without further complications.

At this time, the installation of DNN 4.4.1 now works for me. Of course, any errors in the link to the MSDN library are be the results of difficulties with the user and the keyboard.
