You might want to count those again.
And that is only one list on the official site for Commercial Joomla Addons.

There are others for Joomla Templates.

Take this site for example http://www.rockettheme.com/blogcategory/Joomla_Templates/

You may also be a little cofused about the licensing of commercial modules.

Just because the framework they add on to has a specific license, that does not mean that a third-party module has to adopt the same license.

Or were you trying to imply that all Joomla and DotNetNuke modules are only copies of some other module with some added code?

I am not implying anything. If you are using the DNN DAL in your code, or if you start your module off from the starterkit template module, AFAIK you are using copyrighted material that you can use for free because of the license. Of course you can write dnn modules without using one single line of code from the Core APP or from any of the core modules.. I never tried counting the truly unique modules with 0 lines of dnn copyrighted code... did you?

Hi Folks,

Almost all of the post here relate to development, which is not surprising.

But I originally choose DNN over several other CMS's including Joomla as it was far easier for my Clients to use when they want to add/edit content. All of my DNN customers are astounded with what they can now do with their websites and they think I'm some kind of genius, which leads to refferals and more work.

As a coder I know that maybe some other systems may be technically better (faster, compliant) but all of my websites are built for my clients and thier visitors not for geeks. I am very very happy with choosing DNN and even though I do not code (yet) in .NET, I haven't found a situation that I could not solve by purchasing a commercial module or by coding in ASP or even PHP.

Most commercial modules are available for less than $100 which makes it a no brainer especially as most modules can be customised.

The DNN project team are doing a fantastic job with DNN, although some people in these forums do forget that these guys are doing this for FREE !!!! and have other regular jobs. Keep up the good work guys and for the moaners....Get involved or quit whining.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I dont know about module developers forr Joomla because I have never dealt with these myself. But I did do a few Joomla Themes ( there word for skins )

The inner structure of this is somewhat similar to the dnn ascx skins. As far as I know of there is no html to php conversion as is the case in DNN. They have similar zip files with images css and a php file

In the php theme file there are banner locations, the html layout and direct code calls ( something like the dnn skin objects )

php variation of skinpath :

php variation of a contentpane definition

?php mosLoadModules( 'top', -1); ?

?php echo $mainframe->getTemplate(); ?>/css/template_css.css
