I have just installed DNN 4.5.3. after loads of problems with 4.5.1. Some of my problems are tackeld but definitively not all!

In 4.5.1. I experienced a lot of errors like "400 Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and "404 Control not found" after installing the Text/HTML module at the top of a (any) pane. The 404 error always appears when trying to select the drop down settings menu. Another strange phenomenon is that the modules seem to disappear when refreshing my browser. They reappear sometimes refreshing my browser again but not always.

I removed everything completely and installed a greenfield 4.5.3 installation. The first two modules gave no problems, but when I added the third the circus started again. Appearing and disappearing at random and a control just animating but doing nothing further.

Currently I am using 7.0.6000.16448 on Windows Vista Ultimate and 6.0.3790.1830 on Windows 2003 server SP1. It makes little difference which browser I am using. DNN is running on the W2K3SP1 server with IIS 6.0 and SQL server 2000 EE SP4 (8.00.2039).

I have run through all the forums but I am getting a little bit frustrated. Am I doing something wrong or is 4.5 not a stable build? Please help!! TIA!

Ray.

Hi Guys (and Girls?),

I think I tackled the problem. I have disabled all caching and now it looks like it's working like the old days. I haven't had the time to test it thoroughly but i am hopefull. Still there seems to be an issue with the caching of the sites and the modules.  Does anybodiy know more on this subject?

Grts,

Ray.

Caching can be controlled at the modul level and some 3rd party modules work with caching better than other.  Try to turn caching back on and then for the modules that are having problems make the so they are not cached.  That way the modules that do support the use of caching can take advatage of it and the ones that do not can be configured to not use caching.
