I am running DNN 4.5.3.

When I attached image from image file locally (local host), the image url is: http://localhost:2839/abc/Portals/0/AGirl.gif and can been seen from http://localhost:2839/abc    where "abc" is the virtual directory pointing to c:\DotNetNuke.
I browse the annoucement page from outside, text is ok but image is broken. I login as admin from outside & link the image again & refresh. Image is displayed correctly and its url is: http://abc.no-ip.org:2839/Portals/0/AGirl.gif

However, when I go back home & load it locally. The respective image is broken again.

The difference is that  at local host: it includes the virtual directory as path. Is this a bug?

I'm not an expert here, but I don't believe it is a bug.  With a virtual directory the directory is part of the host name.  Not sure how you're attaching an image, but here are a few ways you may be able to work around this:

1. Use the relative path (i.e. "Portals/0/AGirl.gif")

2. Dynamically build or change the URL based on the host name.  DotNetNuke has a function that may help -

dotnetnuke.Common.ResolveUrl("~/Portals/0/AGirl.gif").

3. On your website change the home directory to your virtual directory so you can get there locally w/o indicating the virtual directory. (You'll have to add the alias in DNN.)
