The Web Portal part of an application we are working on will be implemented using DotNetNuke and custom modules.  But there is a Windows Client Application that will go along with the Web Portal and I would like to validate the users of the Windows Client application against the DotNetNuke database.  This way the user would have one username and password for the portal and the application.  My thought was to use a webservice that would use the DotNetNuke.Security.PortalSecurity.UserLogin method to validate the users from the Windows Client Application.

So, is this a bad idea to use the PortalSecurity class?

Thanks

Brad
