Hi Guys,

Can anyone give me any advice on connecting DNN 3.3.7 to SQLServer 2005.

I have DNN 3.3.7 on SQLServer 2000, DNN 4.5.1 on SQLServer 2005. Seperate Machines. Both working just great. Multiple test/dev sites.

I'm tryng to avoid putting SQLServer 2000 on the new machine I'm working on (with DNN 4.5.1 on SQLServer 2005). I do want to put DNN 3.3.7 onto that machine and setup mirrors of existing sites for future migration and testing in the DNN 4.5.x/VS2005/SQLServer2005 environment.

Struggling with the DNN 3.3.7 to SQLServer 2005 scenario.

Any advice?

Thanks

You can just move the sql 2000 db to sql 2005...

Hi Erik,

DNN337 keeps givin me a connection string error and I've checked and tripple checked the string.
Other versions (DNN4.x) connect to DBs in SQLServer 2005 without an issue.

I thought that, after looking at the connection string in web.config in the DNN4.x instances, the DNN3.3.7 instance might need something diferent to connect to SQLServer 2000. The string in DNN4.x is a lttle differnt in SQLServer 2005.

Lastly, I know I'm doing something wrong either in SQLServer2005 or DNN3.3.7. Just cannot see WHAT it is so was hoping for a few tips or suggestions on possible quirks connecting to SQLServer2005.

the connection string template that comes with the dnn 3.3.7 installation works fine with both sql 2000 and sql 2005. Make sure that sql 2005 is set up to accept remote connections (that is turned off by default), and that the user you use to connect to the db has sufficient rights

Erik, dank u wel!
It was the "accept remote connections " thing...

I did have a similar issue with the other DNN installations but forgot about that.

THANKS again.
