Announcing a new HowIUseDNN.com Tutorial

Creating Custom Tags for Socani Module Builder

Overview: Module Builder includes many very good built-in tags. However there are times when you may need something special. Please have fun with my tutorial for creating custom tags allowing for the playback of uploaded video. Once you see how it's done you will be able to create your own tags for any purpose. The final module created with this lesson plan will be made available to registered users of HowIUseDNN.com.

CREATING CUSTOM TAGS TO PLAY MULTIPLE MEDIA FORMATS IN SOCANI.ORG's MODULE BUILDER
(flv, swf, wmv, mov, mp4, rm and more...)

Title: CREATING CUSTOM TAGS
Experience: Intermediate to Advanced
Time to Complete: 1 hour +-
Instructor: Tom Harris
Date: June 16, 2007

The tutorial is available now at
http://www.howiusednn.com/Home/Articles/tabid/119/Default.aspx

If you have not used the Socani Module Builder, register on their site and download the free demo and go through the very nicely done flash based tutorials

Also check out the Proof of Concept Module used for testing. You will need to have the Flash, Quicktime, Realmedia, and Windows Media plug-ins to play all the formats uploaded. http://www.howiusednn.com/ModulesinAction/SoCanIorg/MediaConcept/tabid/127/Default.aspx. I purposely turned off the default video. Just click on the links on the left to play the videos.

Have fun and as usual feel free to contact me about anything DNN. If I don't know it I will find out for you.
