Hi

I have recently moved my local install to a new machine.  The site launches fine and works throughout.  However i cant login with any users credentials.  I have searched on this forum but all the threads seem to be just recovering lost host passwords etc.

I have a feeling that it is something to do with the machine key!

Any ideas would be great.  i have set my fresh install of MSSQL server 2005 express to mixed authentification

Cheers

Yup, copy the machine keys from the web.config file on your old machine and try to log in

Hi

Thats exactly my point i copied the whole dnn folder over to my new machine and fired it in VS 2005.  So the machine keys should be the same.  I thought that i might have to give my web.config a new machine key from my new machine if that makes nay sense

Thanks for your answer

Well your machine keys need to be exactly the same - by just moving your site you should then be using the exact same web.config file leaving the machine keys untouched. If you're using the same database then all of the logins should be intact. I'm not sure if part of it could have gotten corrupted but I have been locked out of a superuser account before and recovered.

You say that you can not login with any user credentials but if you can register a new user and log in with that account you might be able to recover.

Good luck,

Mike
