Hi,
I'running DotNetNuke on an intranet information site - since a year or so. The currently installed version is 4.5.3, to which I upgraded a week ago, and it runs on a Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005 Express, all installed on the same physical machine. There are some other intranet applications running on this machine, in fact, it is the central Web Server.
I encountered a strange behaviour this morning: Except the page "Home", everything seemed to be dissapeared: the submenu under "Home", and all the other menus. The links from the "Home" page to other tabs showed the correct address in the address bar, but did not go to the page. After the postback, "Home" was displayed. I logged in as Administrator - same thing, even no "Administrator" menu. I logged in as Host, the "Host" menu was shown with it's submenu, but no "Administrator" menu. I clicked on "Portals", and there were no portals shown in the list - actually, the page was empty! Everything seemed to be lost, except the "Home" page, the skin and the host menu. No modules, no menus, no portals, nothing.
I had a first thought, which helped actually, but I do not have any idea why this is like this - just an intention. DotNetNuke was running in the Default Application Pool. I stopped the site, added a new Application pool, changed the properties of the DotNetNuke site to use this pool, restarted the application - and everything was back.
Well, the problem is solved. But is there anyone out there who can tell me WHY?
Best wishes
Michael
