I successfully installed DotNetNuke 4. on our Server in office. In the server it works good, but from other client computers in the office it is not accessible. In the browser it just says, "The page cannot be displayed".

Server platform is "Windows 2000 Server".

I have another web site on your server in ASP.Net 1.1, which does not have any problem.

Please Help Me. Thank  you

I suppose you installed DNN from the server console using "localhost" in your browser correct?

If the DNN site works when you run it from the server but not from other clients, then your problem is probably related to the DNN Alias for the site in question.  For instance, how do you connect to the server from the clients in the LAN, using the ServerName?  If that is the case, then you need to enter ServerName as another alias for the site.

In the future, in order to avoid this problem (not that it is not easy to resolve) you could use the ServerName the very first time you connect to the new DNN site to execute the installation.  Since DNN will register the address used for installation as its default alias, it would work from both the local server console as well as from clients on the LAN (assuming that the address for ServerName is correctly resolved).

if you installed dotnetnuke and first called it using localhost, you need to add the external address manually as portal alias:

  • log in as superuser "Host"
  • go to Portals in admin menu
  • select your portal and scroll down page to the far end
  • add your portal alias and save it.
