Are you referring the DotNetNuke Control Panel (at the very top of the page)? Or the Module's Admin Controls?

If you are talking about the first, then the Blog module has nothing to do with it. It is a security setting at the PAGE level.

Also, I remember that at some point a version of DNN (I think 4.5.1?) had this bug (or similar). Can you tell me which version you are using?

Hi

I'm using 4.5.1, and I'm talking about the control panel right at the top.  My page security is set correctly, and I have 2 of the blog modules set to edit for registered users so they can use the blog correctly,

Has this bug now been fixed in later releases of DNN?

I did find this which would suggest its still a problem...

Daniel,

I think this was fixed.

Please download the latest version and test it.

Let me know how it goes.

In order to fix it on DNN 4.5.1, just add the following to the top of your skins:

<%
    If Not DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionController.HasTabPermission("EDIT") Then
        ControlPanel.visible = false
    End If
%>

It will hide that panel from any user that doesn't have permission to edit the page, so giving edit permissions to a module will not create this problem.

Thanks to everyone with their help on this.  My solution was,

Upgraded to 4.5.3
On site settings/ Usability Settings  have the following set-

Control Panel Mode = View
Control Panel Visibility= Minimized
Control Panel Security=Page Editors

This works for me.

Cheers

Dan
