This is a most important action that would facilitate our development project.

If we could access module settings, especially objects from other modules using ajax and thus removing the need to refresh the whole page this would be very good.

I wonder if someone can provide an example of this functionality?

I would appreciate more ideas on how one would go about doing this within the DNN framework.

regards, Mark

To save a setting(s):

Dim objModules As New Entities.Modules.ModuleController

objModules.UpdateTabModuleSetting(TabModuleId, "SettingName", SettingValue)
objModules.UpdateTabModuleSetting(TabModuleId, "SettingName2",OtherValue)

To retrieve that setting(s):

 Dim strWhatever As String = CType(Settings("SettingName"), String)

Hi,

I would appreciate someone giving a pointer as to the best way to implement a solution in an AJAX environment so that we do not have to do a complete page refresh when communicating between modules.

regards, Mark

Mark,

Here's a link to an AJAX tut by Michael Washington:

I'm pretty sure that learning AJAX and learning to communicate between modules are two different things.  Merging them once learned shouldn't be too difficult.

Regards,

Steve

You are wrong and you can see it in action on the Help Module.  I use it to communicate between the Category Tree and the tutorials list.
