Alan:

We are still using DNN 3.3.7.  However, we'll be upgrading to 4.x in the next 2 months or so.  Don't hold back .NET 2.0 development just for us!

When you say "I opened all the .ascx.vb files and deleted the "Protected WithEvents" control references. This eliminated most of the errors." do you mean you completly got rid of those lines, or just the "Protected WithEvents" part of the line?

Also, does this conversion work using a DotNetNuke 4.x site? I mean, that's what I did and SO FAR it has worked, but I haven't edited any of the code like you said, so if this is going to be a waste of my time I'd like to know :)

Thanks.

Ok, I followed the directions (took a guess and just commented out all of the "Protected WithEvents" lines).

I got it to build and launch, but as soon as I tried to enable the module in DNN I got an error about a class being ambiguous in the namespace. Now I can't seem to get rid of these errors. I've tried searching for a solution but can't find one.

If anyone has any idea please let me know.

Dan:

Thanks for the tips! I took this one step further and converted to a Web Application project. I did integrate your suggested changes, but I am still getting an exception when I try to add a new event: Unexpected end of file looking for tag. Most likely some kind of error after I ran "Convert to Web Application" menu command from within Visual Studio (This command removes all the control declarations in the code behind file and creates the code gen file, among other things. I did a file comparison report of the original version and the ASP.NET version and found no differences in the .ascx files... so I am at a loss as to what could be blowing up my add event control.

Any chance you'd post the vs2005 module? I need to add a number of features to the events module and really don't want to go back to using vs2003. I'd share the upgrades if you or someone could help me out.

I loaded vs2003 on my machine & I get a message about IIS not being set to the correct .Net version. This is headache #1 and I'm afraid of how many more headaches will be involved with going back to vs2003.
