I put a new install of 4.05.03 at a hosting company under the "temp" url provided. After the portal was up and running the domain name was pointed to the site and added as aportal alias. While browsing to the domain name gets me to the site, DNN still displays the "temp"url and I cannot delete the alias. Am I missing something?

Gregg,

You will need to add the new portal alias....

Then visit the site under that alias

Then you can delete the old one!

I've added the alias. But DNN was set up with the 'temp' url before the domain was pointed to it. Everytime I browse to the new URL I get the site but with the old 'temp' URL. So when I logon as host I can't remove the 'temp' URL as an alias.

In that case...you can try removing the portal alias directly from the database, just be 100% sure that the proper alias exists for the proper poral id.

NOTE: This is a RISKY action if not done correctly; you MUST know what you are doing beforehand as if you incorreclty modify this table you can render your entire site unavailable!

I went to the portal alias table and deleted the row with the 'temp' URL in it( I made sure that a record with the new domain alias existed before I did this). After removing the record the application would not respond to any request. I added  a new record to the database with the 'temp' URL pointing to the portal and I'm back to where I started from.
