I have switched my website into strict mode, it has fixed the ModalPopupExtender issue as discussed in http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/111/threadid/140684/threadpage/2/scope/posts/Default.aspx.

However, it has caused other controls' style render incorrectly and some of them did not get rendered at all

Firstly, Solpartmenu doesnt get render properly. I have fixed that by changing some values in the css.

Second, Inventual side menu's is not get applied.

Third, the css styles of tabstrip control from atlas are not get applied as well.

Let me revive this issue.  My skin goes crazy when I tried to change the doctype (the extender worked, however).  Has anyone found a solution OTHER than changing the doctype?  This is a big problem.

Thanks!

I just found this thread while searching for an answer for this problem. Oh crap.  This means that my module cannot be distributed, which makes it worthless. I cannot guaruntee that the site is using a strict or transitional doc type.  Ugghhh

 Re-engineer module> blown deadline> loss of job> girl leaves me> homeless >.

sun.. i am not sure i follow your line of thinking.

As far as i can see there IS a valid way to get the modal extender to work and that is to switch to xhtml strict. There are more modules out there that require xhtml strict to function properly (google maps comes to mind).

Of course it would be possible to change the doctype from code (from within your module), but then you have to make sure that your clients know that and only use xhtml compliant skins
