Any time you change the contents on the BIN directory it effectively has the same effect as editing the web.config file.

So EVERY time you hit the COMPILE button to make a DLL - you effectively get an application restart.
Now while asp.net 2.0 has done a lot to streamline this process - it still cause a HIT every time.

One of the key redesign issues when asp.net 2.0 was being put together was having a development methodology that
got around this COMPILE/WAIT/DEBUG/COMPILE/WAIT merry-go-round.

For this reason we do all our asp.net / dnn 4.x development using NON-COMPILED dynamic modules
 - which means we can drop in and out of the site changing lines of code without any need for COMPILE / WAIT cycles.

The only time we build an COMPILED version of a module is right before a release - which is when we construct a WAP version of our modules

wtatters:

How do you go about developing a non-compiled module?  If you could point me to a resource, that would be greatly appreciated.
