Hi,
Basically I have downloaded my DotNetNuke installation from my web site and when I launch the localised DotNetNuke project from Visual Web Developer (VWD) Express the browser automatically switches to the live web site and I need to run DotNetNuke from the local host to edit and test content locally.

This downloaded project compiles without errors, and I also performed the following activities in preparation; -

1) Set up a portal local host alias before downloading this project to my hard disk.

2) Down loaded the SQL Server Database which my live DNN site sits on.

3) Changed the web.config file to point to the DNN SQL Server database on my hard disk.

Currently IIS is not available to me.

When creating a new empty DotNetNuke project the local host launches successfully within the browser using the VWD local web server. I guess therefore there is some setting I need to change on the localised copy of my DNN website to make it work in the same way as a newly created blank DNN web site.

Thanks in advance,

Kieran

I believe you will have to edit the portal_aliases  table and add an entry for your localhost installation, such as

localhost/<localfoldername> for the default portal (id 0)

DNN is only finding the live domain alias and redirecting to that since none other exists.
