I didn't find it on these forums, so I wanted to provide it here, on how to install DNN 4.5.5 on the root directory of a GoDaddy, com Delux windows hosting account. (this is the $7 a month one)

The article I followed is found at

http://mynetnuke.com/Blog/tabid/525/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/206/Install-DotNetNuke-453-Godaddy-Root.aspx

It is written for DNN 4.5.3. i windiff'd the 4.5.3 and 4.5.5 directories, and no new folders existed between the two releases, the web.config files are IDENTICAL between the two. These are the only 2 things that seemed to need to be worried about since they are the only things that have settings changed or are edited.

I had zero problems following this article and it worked PERFECTLY the first time through.

The article does mention that you will need to set up virtual directories when you want to install modules through the host account. I tested this, as I was installing DNN to test the DNN Store modules (and gallery and blog) and it works perfectly. All you have to do is know what the directory it is going to try to install into (found in the *.dnn file) and create that as a sub directory of DesktopModule folder with the Read,Web,Write settings, and it works great.

I have not set up a second portal yet, but it says, and I suspect it works, to add Portals\# to the virtual directories. Everywhere there is a Portals\0, add one that is Portals\1 and I think it will work fine.

I did not write this, I found it trying to find out HOW to get DNN installed so I had the host menu available. It just worked perfectly so I wanted to share it with anyone else who has considered GoDaddy, since they are a pretty low cost host.

Does it actually matter whether you are using the $7 hosting plan or the economy.  Any idea of why?  I also caught that delux comment and was curious about it.
