Do what the instruction say and change the
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" .../>
to
<customErrors mode="Off" .../>

Then when you run DNN it will give you more information about the error that will help you figure
out what is wrong. You can also post that information.

Without the additional information your guess is as good as ours as to what is wrong.

Actually, I did make the change, but I received the same result.  I guees I must have made some error durring install and config.  I'll check back in the morning, and then try starting over.

I have it figured out I hope, and this will work for both a fresh install and already installed site.

the Events module fails when it trys to write to the image folder and quits with no warning.
the image folder in the root needs permissions set on it also, Read, Write and Web.

for a fresh install, make a "image" folder with Read, Write and Web permissions.

for a already installed site,
1. make a "image" folder with Read, Write and Web permissions on GoDaddy.
2. login DNN as host, go to Host > Module Definitions
3. at bottom click "upload new module", browse to install file on your computer ???\DotNetNuke_4.3.1_Install\Install\Module\Events_3.2_Install.zip, click "add" and wait for it to enter box, then click "upload new file".
this will reinstall the Events module and you will get fails on the database only, because the entries are already there.

this does work, I have done it both ways.

JetJam,

You have outdone yourself again. I changed the 'image' folder with read, write, web, and it worked just like you said.

Thanks for the help

If God does not live in Colorado, I bet he visits there a lot!!

Nicely done JetJam,  I will add this to the instructions!

Masters i need your help about Domain usage

Here is my story

i succesfully installed DNN 4.3.1 to a virtual directory at Godaddy

here is the link : http://www.mikroproje.net/mp

and i have an old domain registered at another company (IHS)

i want to use my existing domain with my new site

can i point my existing domain to go directly my virtual directory? if so how can i do this

if not can u tell me how can i point my existing domain to my root

i tried a few things but couldnt make it work

Can someone tell me step by step how can i configure my existing domain to work with the new one?

This should be in a new thread, you need to forward your existing domain.  Your DNS company should have further instructions.

Please keep this thread on Track in Dealing with Manual Installations of DNN on Go Daddy or Medium Trust Environments.
