I've recently taken over the administration of a site that was built using DNN, and has been updated by the user in ways that make the site look less than beautiful.
I have done some basic exploration in the DNN interface, and have a basic understanding of the way it works, but I'm having a few issues that I'm completely stumped on...
On the main page of the site (I'm thinking this may be a skin issue), after I log in, where the "admin" menu is (enclosed in a div tag entitled "ctl0_dnnMENU_ctlMenu") the user has mistakenly added links to their photo galleries. I need to remove these but have no idea where to start.
Any suggestions to get me going in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Ouch.

To verify if its a skin issue, you could always try previewing in another skin.  Simply go to the Admin >> Skins page and use the Preview link to try another ( say a basic dnn skin ).  That will help you narrow it down.

The irony ( if they edited a skin to do this )... is that you can add those links natively in the menuing system.  Simply go to the bottom of a pages settings and change the type of the link URL.

Thanks! I checked the skins, evidently it's not an issue with those. It's on every single one of their skin previews.

for further reference, this is the actual site:

you wrote that you can add those links natively in the menuing system... to go to the bottom of the page's settings and change the type of the link url... but I can't seem to find that.

any suggestions?

Well... that site looks a little interesting.  It's front-ended with Flash... so I'm not sure of how the navigation is implemented.  Likely, the specific page links are coded into the SWF file.  The menu on the bottom looks to be a normal, standard menu, perhaps intended for secondary navigation?

I'm not terribly sure what you're trying to accomplish... maybe its just late and I'm no thinking straight *grin*.  But if all you're trying to do is HIDE those from showing up... there's two things you can do.

1) Update all the page settings so that they are "hidden"... which supresses them from showing up on the SolPart menu.

Or...

2) Remove the SolPart menu from the skin.

That actually looks like it might have only been there to faciliate testing anyway?

Cheers

I figured it out...

The menu on the bottom was not for secondary navigation, as they already had links to the same things from the .swf file on top, and the .swf file on the left. It would have been a tertiary menu! Who needs that?

I ended up moving them down in the hierarchical(sp?) structure on the tab administration page, and Alas, they are gone.

Thanks for your input! It got me going in the right direction!
