Hello.

I have run into two issues with DNN4.

My first is after installing, i goto Default.aspx and get this error:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Im unaware of why this might be, but i cant go further than this.

My other problem is with opening the files in VS2005 Pro. I try and run the solution, but i get an error saying it cant find http://localhost/DotNetNuke_2 if i recall right. Im unsure on how i can fix this. I currently have the files (which i copied over from after the install from the server) in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\extranet\

Thanks.

I was able to fix the Object reference not set to an instance of an object error by using a nearly untouched web.config (only modified the SQL Connection).

But I am still at a loss for how to use VS2005 Pro with this all.

The second problem is probably because you don't have the IIS virtual directory "DotNetNuke_2" pointing at where you physically installed dnn 4.x.

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\extranet\Website - should be the location of the VDir.

The first problem needs "more info".  make sure your web.config is configured to give you a Stack trace, so we can determine where the error occurs.

That was very interesting. You are right about the Virtual Directory. I did not realize that VS.NET had created a virtual directory for me. When I moved my directory, it then lost the connection..

Thanks.
