......The Module now is 9 Days in Release Process, we tell it more then one times.

Please look in the Release Tracker on this page how the release process is go on......

The module started in the release process in MARCH 2007... so, those 9 or 10 days mean nothing!... Looks like this module will not be real before Christmas...

I dont think the requestor was asking if Active Forums was supported here. They were asking for opionions on Active Forums vs DNN Forums, since they are changing over soon and looking for a new option. I am currently using DNN Forums current release and there is a few things I could do without or love to have fixed. I am anxiously awaiting the next DNN Forums release.

Sure agbl, will you a module that will crash your system?   DNN have a release process, if a module is in this and failed a process so we have correct the issues and restart a new prelease proccess.  This is to give your guys a stable module.

You will never get a other answer!

As it was mentioned above the module is in the release tracker and to be honest there is no way to give an accurate time estimate.  As many of us regulars here have seen typically giving hard set dates before the release process has completed is a very bad thing to do as you keep getting more and more delays and you keep throwing out dates to just be throwing them out.

I fully understand why this is taking so long, however, the inital question on this thread was to wait for it or proceed with ActiveForums.  Well I personally couldn't wait any longer to fix the "issues" I had with the current forums and I made the migration to ActiveForums because I was faced with not very many other options.

Do I believe that the new version of the forums is going to be good, yes I do.  I know that Chris has put a LOT of hours into this and that the core team is putting it through a very lengthly test to ensure that it is stable and secure.  Will I consider migrating back at some point in the future, yes it is something that I will consider, it is just that time and other constraints forced me to migrate.

So the true answer in my opinion here is, how long can you really wait?

I'm migrating my site from vBulletin to DNN. I'm not sure whether I should buy Active Forums or wait until Forum 4.04 is released.

I'll add that I have been on the same fence for a couple months now...wait or migrate to AF. I, too, suspect that the next release will be, as Crispy framed it, 10x better than the current forums, so I think it could be a solid module. However, having never heard a single negative thing about AF and seeing how much further you can extend the module and some of much-welcomed customizations Snapsis has made, I finally fell off the fence and landed on the other side.

Active offers a free 30-day trial you can download on their site, so perhaps you would be well-served d/l'ing and playing around with it a bit?

I like the ability to customize the template and insert Google ads in a 'leaderboard' after the first post in any new thread; I like the word filter allows for html and regex, rather than just a text find and replace; I like its dual-use and ability to serve as a blog (and/or announcement module, etc). I like the poll look and feel and the preview post functions (and the quick reply); I find their search functionality to be superior; I like the post t find a lot of people having problems and have heard nothing but praise for their modules...all of them.
