henslecd, I have been using DNN 4.0.2 and I have not seen this behavior (though it made be that I simple have not seen it yet).  I cannot speak for the entire core, but if it is a known issue I am sure it is being addressed.  And if possible I am sure a fix will be out shortly.  We work as fast and as much as possible, however, please keep in mind that DNN is a volunteer operation (it is free) and we can only do so much in a day.  I will see if I can find any information on this and get back to you.

Best Regards,

I experienced this too, as a new user, but then realized it was a problem with myself and not DNN.

Uploading, I discovered, is a TWO-STEP process.

After you select the file you want to upload, you have to click the ADD link to add the file to the box below. One it is listed in that box, you click the UPLOAD button.

I was selecting the file and clicking UPLOAD straight-away and experienced the confusing behavior of no file uploading and no error message.

I assume a lot of people are doing this. It may indicate a lack of clarity in the design of the default UI, but it's a user error, at least in my case.

Hope this helps someone else.

Sorry about the caps last night, it wasn't meant to be yelling, but now that I have read it looked that way.

Anyways, wisecreative, I have been uploading correctly.  Yes I think upload process is kind of slow.  It should just be a multiple select in browse and then insert everything into the listbox.

But the problem is, selecting modules/skins whatever, adding them into the listbox, and pressing upload.  The page just refreshes.  Supposedly a "work-around" is to set requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192" in httpruntime in the web.config.  This doesn't work.  I have even set it to 50000, and it seems to work the first time, and then doesn't work anymore.  I buy a lot of skins and lot of modules, so this is a complete showstopper for me. A LOT of people are having this problem, so I can't understand why this has to wait until 4.1.  It makes me unable to do anything, especially if I have a client who wants a particular skin.

FYI, I am using the 4.0.2 starter kit.  I wonder if there is a difference between the 3 different kinds of setups?

Thanks.

Ok I just had to try and experience what you guys are with the uploads not working after a bit in DNN.  Here's what I found.  I don't really know why yet just that I have seen it stop working.

I went to my DNN 4.0.2 install on my dev box and uploaded a module. No problems. Then I uploaded and uploaded and uploaded a few more time.  All as host and never getting further out of the screen than the module definition page.

After about twelve times and right after I had a module fail to install because of missing files I experienced what is described above.  The page would instantly refresh if I tried to upload anything else from anywhere.

I thought to myself hmmm...... That's not right and closed IE6 (I'm suspecting a cache or cookie problem).  I opened FireFox logged in as host went to the module definition page and uploaded another  module no problems.

I killed all my open instances of IE6 and cleared it's cache. Then reopend IE6 logged in and was again able to upload files.

Something tells me that the session cache got corrupted when I installed the package with missing files.

I just tried with firefox. It was the same deal, no upload.  I have cleared the cache of IE as well.  If the planets align correctly, the upload does work :) .

Adeian, were you working on a server at home, or a hosted server? Mine worked about 12 times too, no problems, then it just stopped.

Does anyone have some sort of timeframe for the new release? Even if I could schedule a job to run to fix the problem I would be happy until the next release.  I am going to be losing customers if I can't get this squared away :( .
