At the Openforce 2007 in the Netherlands, it was mentioned that we can expect Localization and Workflow in one of the next versions of DNN.

That looks like a very nice addition to DNN. From a database perspective, I guess they need to add two columns to every main module table, to keep track of a language code (perhaps like language codes that are in the Lists module) and a column to keep track of a version.
I think that most of the modules have some way of tracking stuff like "creation date", "last update" date and "updated by user" information.

Then perhaps some more security roles should be built in to the module settings. Right now you only get Edit and View permission. At the openforce I saw a demonstration by, I think, Vincenç of how to add more permissions to the settings, so you can have a role which can add a record, you have a role who can moderate, etc. So I guess that's how this is going to be implemented.

I recently saw a kind of text/html module on www.effority.net that had some basic versioning in it.
Perhaps that might be something to look at for the core. And I know that there are also some other modules with stuff like this built into it.

Localization is what we've been waiting for ages. Please please add it to 4.7.

Localization, versioning and workflow are complex enhancements, that need to be introduced carefully if we want to add it with large functionality and not breaking exisitent modules. This takes time and it has been announced at OF Europe, that these are our plans for version 5.0, though we cannot give any details now about how it will be implemented and when it will be available.
