Hi Brandon,
Yes to all 3 :-)  Have check everything over many times

I have all of the source code loaded so I will make that update and see what happens.

I might try first, to go to version 4.5.5 first.  Then see if that loads ok.  Then if that is ok, I will upgrade to 4.6.2

Thanks again!

I noticed that there seem to be some kind of automatic build during installation which creates a Providers folder under Bin which I have not seen before, and which does not seem to be in the .zip file (at least not in that place). However, one of the not so few problems with 4.6.2 (it seems by the number of postings here lately) is that this process doesnt seem to work all that well. Last time we upgraded, I had to manually copy these files into bin from another project. Before that is done, building the project in VS2005 just wont happen. Could that be related to the problems you are seeing?

update: I have successfully upgraded from 4.4.1 to 4.5.5.

Tomorrow I will try to go to 4.6.2 from 4.5.5, but I am not optimistic since I have seen a bunch of other posts that it doesn't work.

Improwise, I noticed the same files in the bin directory...Not sure what they are.

I can get the 4.6.2 source code to build in Vs2005, which is how I code step through the code and find the line that was throwing the exception.  I had to exclude a couple files and comment out any code referencing window authentication...but then I could debug it.

Let me know if you get any where.

The interesting thing about these files is that they were not in the bin folder until the site was "visted" for the first time, io you look into the .zip file, you can see this. I actually tried to build it before visiting the site, and that wasn't possible, because it wanted the DLLs which were later on created/move to the bin folder. We are actually running and compiling 4.6.2 now without any real problems, but it took some "convincing" to come to that.

I would personally recommend using the Install package when going from 4.x -> 4.6.x as I found a lot less errors occured.

You can see my detailed guide on how to do the upgrade on my site http://www.mitchelsellers.com, I have used this exact process to go from 4.5.5 to 4.6.2 on 8 sites without issues so far!
