We've installed AD and everything is working great except the RSS feeds that link to internal DNN blogs. If I'm logged in as a host, I get this error:

Could Not Connect To http://[host]/Default.aspx?tabid=54&rssid=3. You Should Verify The Source Address Is Valid And That Your Hosting Provider Has Configured Their Proxy Server Settings Correctly.

If I'm not logged in as a host, I get this:

News Feed Is Not Available At This Time. Error message:The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

We are NOT using a proxy server.

We have granted access to everyone, including unauthenticated users, in both the blog module and the blog page.

This is for an intranet. It is not hosted on GoDaddy. I have been scouring the web for three weeks to try to find an answer and nothing is showing up.

The problem disappears when we disable AD and use regular DNN authentication.

Please help!

Thanks.

When you're not logged in as host are you logged in as another user or anonymous?

I'll have to do some testing to try to recreate/fix the problem but if you could log this in Gemini (http://support.dotnetnuke.com) it would be great.

This happens:

- When I am not logged in

- When I am logged in using a DNN account

- When I am logged into my AD account

The only way I don't get this error is to turn off AD in the Admin and Host auth panels and comment out line 70 in web.config.

This happens under all circumstances of authentication -- unauthenticated, DNN auth, AD auth, AD admin auth, etc.

The issue has been logged.

Sorry if this is a duplicate reply.

It may help people to know there is a temporary workaround (or so we've found). We use the Orizonti NukeNews module to provide an RSS feed to our homepage, and had exactly the same problem when we enabled AD authentication.

Our solution was to edit the AuthenticationModule.vb file for the Authentication HttpModule. In the OnAuthenticateRequest method we wrapped the code that checks the login and redirects if neccessary so it was within an IF statement that examined the current page path and skipped all the authentication if the path contained the phrase getRss (which is what NukeNews uses). It's a bit of a kludge, but it will do until someone can figure out a better solution. Then recompile the Authentication module and drop into your dnn bin folder.

Regards,

Andrew Dancy
