I seem to be pushing the envelope in wanting to be able to try something new in our environment and I need some help. 

I have access to several servers to run an open-source program, preferably DotNetNuke.  When asking if they can host DNN, I get various answers from no, to what does it need, to we'll see.  I am not a programmer so I can't speak their language.

What are the server requirements for running DNN?  When I ask them about their platforms capabilities I want to be able to simply ask do you have _____, can ____be installed, and, if they don't, what needs to be done.

I am sure I am not the only one in this large beauracary that wants to use this type of software. I know there are a lot of people managing their own servers.  I don't want to do that. I want our main tech people to be able to help me, but it seems I have to tell them what they need to do.  Providing it to me in plain and simple language will be appreciated.

Eileen,

you need a Windows Server (2000/2005) with IIS and .Net Framework 2.0 or 3.0 installed, and a Microsoft SQL Server (2000/2005 or Express). make sure, the server has enough memory (at least 1 GB)
