Wow, that is odd, your code does appear to be 100% correct.  I guess I am not sure...

We appreciate any help you can provide :)

Agreed! I am stuck and was really hoping someone could find the missing piece to this puzzle that I am overlooking. Guess its back to the debugger ;)

The thing I find to be the strangest part is if you use FileMon to monitor the file you can see that the OS closes the file...

If anyone has the time to download the beta and try it out, let me know if you notice the same problem... if we cannot get this resolved all write functionality will be removed before release. This means you the web service will only be able to list and download the files on the portal, which is obviously not nearly as useful as being able to upload and remove files via the webservice. I plan on digging into this issue heavily this weekend. I will post my findings sometime monday. But by all means, if anyone has a suggestion or even better, a solution please post it so that I may include it in my testing.

Thanks again!

Try using the FileStreams constructor instead of System.IO.File.Create If I recall correctly I have seen this same issue in the past with File.Create.

I have been doing some testing here and it does appear that Dave's recommendation might be the right path to go down.

WHen using the System.IO.File.Create method I had a locked file and had to kill the process, whne using the FileSteam constructor I did not.

VERY NICE!!! Thank you both for the input! Though I am not sure how that "feature" slipped past the .Net testing team. It seems to me that the shared method would handle resource locks better than actually creating an object, and should at the very least work the same way and actually release the lock!

I will try this out tonight or tomorrow and post back the results.

Thanks again!
