Hi,
I have generall question for DNN installation, especialy when configuring database access.
During the installation I am asked for a server (I am using MS SQL Express), filename and credentials.
Why this file is required? Is DNN not use SQL in 100%?

Thanks for any explanation

Hi,

Yes, but since SQL Server 2005 you can connect to database using two different ways. You can use standard connection string with sql server name, port etc. or you can connect to database directly with filename (attached file).

Kind regards,

Primoz

But, why I have to put the name of the file from App_data folder which is completely different than the name of the file where is my database file stored. I can check out the filename and the path of this file by right click on the database name in the SQL Server Management Studio and choosing properties - Files (Path and filename column)?

Hi,

This is just an option. In your case input regular database's connection data: server, database name, username, password.

Kind regards,

Primoz
