Please help. I set up a DNN site on two IIS 6.0 servers with a file server as the back end.  The two web servers are load balanced and for some reason even after I set the registry values I get the following error.

An error has occurred.

Hey Chris,

I got the same issue and this trick helped me out. try this:

this is my configuration

dnn482
windows 2003
IIS 6
Service Pack

I followed couple of articles reach to http://support.microsoft.com/?id=911272

however I just added FCNMode to registry with value of 2

hopefully it works for your case too.
