I'm trying to produce a flash movie to demonstrate this, but I think that the scheduler issue is tied to the Timer-Method.  Under Host Settings, when I have the Timer-Method instead of the default Request-Method enabled and have auto sync file system check marked, my sites blow up.  I have even disabled the Resync Scheduled item in the scheduler and get the same results.  I have tried this on multiple installs and get the same results.  My portals are DNN 441 installs. though.

Hope this helps.

Here's what I do every couple of days:

Go to the site - logo is missing.

Example

Log in as site admin.

Example

Go to site settings. What do you know - I don't have access to the files.

Example

So I go to the file manager. Noone has access but admin. Lucky for me this admin is none other than me.

(Sometimes there are no files listed there so I have to resync the filesystem manually (several times in a row)).

Example

I allow access to everyone and save.

Example

I return to site settings. This time I have access to the files. No file for logo is currently selected (it's always this way at this stage).

Example

I select proper image from the list and save.

Example

After this the logo is displayed again. For another two days.

Example

Keep in mind that there are othe sites in this instance of the platform. The logo disappers on them too. And only admin user can fix it. Even though I'm this admin, admin's username and password are different for every site. So I have to do this again the number of times being equal to the number of sites I have minus one. It's starting to bore me... :(

Ok, I ran out of patience and hardcoded logo into the skins. :)

Exiton,

are you running a scheduler job for file sync (see Host :: Scheduler)?

If so, please deactivate and use autosync in host settings and when added / deleted / renamed a portal folder from outside DNN (FTP, Windows File Manager), perform a recursive sync inside Admin :: File Manager!

Done, sheduler task is now deactivated.

You know, I think that might have solved this problem. So far so good. And event log finally stopped hammering me with errors every 2 seconds. :)

I have tried to reproduce an issue with scheduled file sync in DNN 4.8.0 but I could not find an issue: all files persisted with their IDs and all folder permissions have been preserved. Maybe there is an interference issue, if 2 sync operations are acting at the same time, please make sure, not to enable both scheduled sync (in Scheduler) and auto sync (in Host Settings)
