Dear Will

Thank you very much for your response.
As I mentioned in my last post, we are running DNN 4.05.05.
We do NOT use any 3rd party modules that touch registration/security/profile areas.
The only 3rd party modules we use are a light box gallery and a news module.

Hope this helps.

Jo.

Hey Jo...  I know you said that your client isn't planning on upgrading, but you should really try and convince them to at least upgrade to version 04.09.05 to receive the latest security updates.  Also, there is a security update in the 05.05.00 and 05.05.01 releases.  The 05.05.01 update can be manually applied by following the directions in this blog post by Cathal Connolly, since it's not actually a security flaw in DNN, but rather in ASP.Net.

That being said, there aren't any workarounds for this specific issue, without updates to the core code, which is why an upgrade is usually suggested.  :(  Sorry.

I know that doesn't exactly help you, but it's the easiest thing to do, outside of managing your own branch of the source code.

Hi Will Well that's not what I wanted to hear but I guess that's how life goes.. :) I'm gonna have to investigate there a bit what upgrading to 04.09.05 really means (what could potentially be influenced, broken, etc) as it is always difficult to touch a living environment. Thanks a lot for the tip anyway! Cheers Jo
