Hello All,

I have a DNN 2.1.2 portal that I'm upgrading to DNN4.  It took a bit of twiddling to get the upgrade process to work, but all is well now.  I had to split the upgrade into 4 steps, and it always hangs on the SQL upgrade script for 3.0.13 -- however, restarting the upgrade at that step seems to correct the problem.

At any rate, my real question is in regards to the forum module.  On DNN 2.1.2, we're using Adverageous Forums, and after upgrading to DNN 4.7, we'd like to switch to the Core forums module.

I was wondering if any others out there had success porting the data (e.g., all the forum posts) from Adverageous to the DNN Core forums module?  If so, could you share what you did?

Hi Josh,

I know this is an old post, but did you ever figure out how to do it?  we are upgrading a client from 2.1.2 to 3.37.  And  need to find out if it is possible...

Hi Art,

Well, I suppose you could say we figured out "how" to do it, but we never actually went through the nitty gritty of doing it.  It looked like the only way to do it was do write some code that would pour over the Adverageous Forums tables, pull out all the posts, and then insert them into the DNN Forums, using the stored procedures that the DNN Forums make available.

But we basically just gave up and decided that we were going to save an archive of the old forums data, in case we ever desperately needed it, and start a new set of forums, completely wiped clean.

What did you wind up doing?

  -Josh
