The following javascript code is a simple financial timer that changes by the second.

The problem is that it triggers the iexplorer.exe to eat up all memory.

I would appreciate any help to solve the problem:

Here is the code:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">

var addPerMin = 7065;
var startDay = new Date(2007, 6, 1); // july 3 2007
var now = new Date();
var numMins = Math.ceil(((now.getTime() - startDay.getTime())/60000)*7065);
var cnt = 31338865333 + numMins;
var SetTimeOutPeriod = Math.floor((1000 * 60) / addPerMin);

function ProcessCounter() {
document.getElementById('cnt').innerHTML = addCommas(String(cnt++));
setTimeout('ProcessCounter()', SetTimeOutPeriod);
}

function PutSpan() {
document.write('<span id="cnt"></span>');
}

function addCommas(nStr) {
var rgx = /(\d+)(\d{3})/;
while (rgx.test(nStr)) {
nStr = nStr.replace(rgx, '$1' + ',' + '$2');
}
return nStr;
}

function displayCounter() {
PutSpan();
ProcessCounter();
}

</script>

Hello,

There have been a number of posts by the IE dev team recently on the subject of jscript leaks in Internet Explorer.  I'd reccommend looking through their documentation and see if any of it might be relevant to your situation.

One such post is here: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2007/11/29/tools-for-detecting-memory-leaks.aspx

As I said, there are a number of other posts on the same topic on their RSS feed, so I'd look around and see if any of their suggestions might remedy your issue.

Good luck!
