The event viewer times out every time I try to display it.  Any one know how to clear event log?

It does not make any difference whether I log in as Administrator or Host.

Thanks for your help

if you're event viewer is too full and you just want to wipe it out use the following in the Host >> SQL tab:

DELETE FROM EventLog

Hope that helps! PS..Note: this will delete ALL transactions from the log

You can also do the following to keep that last 100 records, but the query can take a few minutes to run and may be a little taxing on the DB.

DELETE FROM EventLog
WHERE  LogGUID NOT IN
          (SELECT     TOP 100 LogGUID
            FROM          EventLog
            ORDER BY LogCreateDate DESC)

OR Just delete by everything before a certain day

DELETE
FROM          EventLog
WHERE LogCreateDate < '2008-10-02'

-something clever or funny.

If your event log is full, then this query will take a long time and may timeout itself.. Try this instead, it is instant:

truncate table eventlog
