Hi,

I found this problem when I tested to create a new module and press Build. I used this tutorial (http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN4%5FDevelopmentEnvironment%5FnoIIS/)to build a new module but the error below appeared.. please help me on this one...

Error    101    It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.    C:\DotNetNuke462\Website\web.config    58

Thanks in advance...

-bryan

for some reason VS sometimes puts a web.config file in your module directory. This can cause unexpected errors. Please check if your module directory has a web.config file

That tutorial doesn't actually build a module. What tutorial did you use to actually build your module?

hi Michael,

I used this tutorial for SuperSimple Module creation(http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN_ShowMeThePages/Super_Simple1.htm). I know the error is on the web.config file but the tutorial is made to run also for DNN which is located not on IIS...

hope to hear from you soon...

Erik is right. There must be a web.config that is in a module directory that needs to be removed. Search for any web.config other than the one in the main directory and remove it.
