i used this in the announcements.ascx file to put announcements next to each other (5 columns per row):

<asp:datalist id="lstAnnouncements" runat="server" Summary="Announcements Design Table" CssClass="DNN_ANN_DesignTable" RepeatColumns="5" RepeatDirection="Horizontal">

i've read the blog post about the new version and looked at the new ascx control and it seems that the new ver. doesn't use an ASP.NET Datalist. so can you please share some insight on how i can continue doing this with the new version of the module? Thanks!

you could create a new template that works with divs instead of with tables. You could then use css to mimic a 5 column layout. I am sorry i cannot show you a sample of that, simply because i am not versed enough in css design to do that.. (i just know it can be done).
