StarryNightDave,

While I don't know of any tutorials or books on the social networking features of DotNetNuke (and available to DotNetNuke from vendors), I can say that the Blog can be an important part of a social networking site, and that DotNetNuke comes with a core Blog module.

Also, you may want to look into the User Profile module at Smart Thinker or My Profile from DNNFusion

Hope that helps,

Ian

Ian,

I did install Dynamic Registraion and I'm able to add all sorts of questions for our user's profiles that way.  But, how about something simple like allowing a user to create a "homepage?"  Is that possible with the core functionality of DNN?

I am in the process of starting a similar website. However, I am finding it difficult to find the exact modules and features that i am wanting. I don't have the time to really get into creating my own modules, so I'm kind of stuck here. If anyone has suggestions on the following, please let me know:

1.) Nice rating system module: needed for reveiwing things like clubs, bars, restaurants, etc...
2.) Event scheduler - I need a really nice event handler (so vendors can schedule events, I can have featured events on the main page, etc...)
3.) User Profile System - I checked out DNNFusion's MyProfle and the SmartThinker Profile modules, but was wondering what other options are out there.
4.) Forum with more options than the built-in forum, but no really expensive (on a low budget for all of this).

I'm probably missing a few things, but that's the most of it. Any help is much appreciated!

Tweaked,

I can give you recommendations on a few of your items anyway.

You might have a look at the Ventrian Property Agent module for your first requirement.  I know a rating system exists with that module and it might have what you need.

For the forum, I cannot recommend any product other than ActiveForums, I use it on my site and I haven't been happier!
