I need to add some of my code to the registration process. I need to check before some 1 can register.  I am trying to find where the registration code is. I went to ADMIN- SECURITY- REGISTER.ASCX. I put a debugger  in the vb file and the debug process didn't even hit that page. I also went to admin- user and i was not able to find anything for the registeration process.

If any 1 can help where i can modify the registration code.  I am using the 4.3.4 ver of DNN.

soorma,

As a rule -- I don't t recommend modifying the core code, but I'm curious as to what you need to check for before someone can register. What business need are you trying to satisfy by modifying the registration? Maybe there is an alternate solution.

take care,

Before some1 signs up for the portal i need to check number of things. There is a web service that is written to check those things. I need to call the web service and pass the paramater to the webservice. The web service checks there country , company name etc. if they belong to a country or a company  that is not supposed to register then the user cannot register.

The portal is already running but i need to add this functionality.

Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to look at the DataSprings Dynamic Registration module.  If it provides the functionality that you need, thats a much safer approach than trying to modify the existing code.  On advantage is that this approach is the least likely fail when you upgrade your site to a later version of DotNetNuke.  It's also in keeping with the good architectural design of DotNetNuke.

If you MUST dig into the code, you might consider creating a special Membership Provider.  If you simply need to do some things prior to actually registering a user, the appropriate place to do it would be in the Membership Provider.  And, I'd install this as a separate provider.  There is some good information about Membership Providers in the Professional DotNetNuke book by Shaun Walker, et. al.
