thanks Brian,

It's a little bit faster but not a big difference.

and there's still  a big gap between 2.0 and 3.5.

I have logged many issues with connect.microsoft.com - ironically in July 2006 I posted about VS2005 and performance issues. You can guess what I was working on - DotNetNuke and Store module!

I spent a good 6 months on that monster and finally gave up. The project needs some serious affection and effort to make it work, IMHO it needs major refactoring and design changes.

I agree with you thant Store module is a monster.

but for vs2008 at .net 2.0 it working fast enough , not for 3.5.

and this is what microsoft guys should explain  why....

thanks.

any furthur suggestions ?

I wish I had some ideas for you. Other than filepaths being very lengthy, I have seen much bigger projects that don't seem to encounter the problem. I could not pinpoint the problem either, we just know the IDE get works much ttoo hard for some reason.

Hi Dwayne and Michael.

Microsoft confirms that there is a bug in vbc.exe of 3.5 framework :

http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=336096

they checked it with me on the STORE module. the bug is in debug mode.

meanwhile, there is a some workaround .. look there.

Zahi,

This problem has been plaguing me for a while now.  Finally, I stumbled over this post.

Thank you so very much for persisting with this issue.  Hopefully SP1 will fix the problem.

FYI, I am running VS 2008 Professional on an XP SP2 machine.  I was originally running the VS 2008 trial, but that has expired.

I haven't tried any of the suggestions here, but hopefully I will now be able to resolve the problem.

Again, thank you very much.

Carl.
