Sorry to flood the forum with my issues but I finally got around to asking. I have a very odd issue with my DNN 4.6 install and the SMTP Password. Everytime I enter the Host Settings and test the password, the first attempt give me
"There has been an error trying to send the test email. The error is:
Mailbox name not allowed. The server response was: Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts"
Then I put in the password again and test the connection and it is successful. Ok so one would assume the password was incorrect the first time it was entered BUT.. now with that same password, if I test the connection again it fails with the same error as above...I have no clue as to why this is, all I know is that I can not send any mails from any of my modules to users...but i guess that is obvious if the SMTP isnt working..

If anyone has been having simlar problems and knows of a solution, please let me know.

Thanks for your time

Mark

First make sure that your host e-mail address in Host Settings is changed to an e-mail address that is allowed to send e-mail through your SMTP server.  Then, also make sure that you do the same check with your Admin and Host accounts (I do not remember which is checked in this instance).

Finally, try your test again.  If you continue to experience this, I would have you check with your Network Admin and find out if your authentication information is indeed correct.

If your e-mail addresses are all correct, and your authentication information is correct, then this is an issue residing with the SMTP server.  Most SMTP servers have heightened restrictions these days to prevent getting blacklisted by the big mail servers out there.  (A practice which I HATE!!!  It doesn't address the problem.  It only serves as a LAZY workaround.)
