Re-index pages doe not really re-index everything.  Part of the indexing routing determines if there has been any changes before reindexing occurs.  Since you are reindexing the same thing, nothing really happened.

The solution is to clear (delete) your indexed search contents first then do the re-index.  Be prepare to wait a long time for the re-index operation to complete since you have 500 pages.  The tutorial website has the instructions on how to delete your inexed search contents.
