AD is up and running. It appears to be working well. Thank you!

Hi, since this is my first post I’d like to thank everyone that has put so much hard work into all of the DNN projects over the years. I have the 01.00.03 active directory provider working perfectly with 4.07.00 on a virtual machine that’s configured as a domain controller. I followed the instructions from ActiveDirectory_Users_Guide.01.00.02.pdf. With the same setup on real domain where the web server is not a DC but still on the domain I cannot get it to work. In the Active Directory Settings on the Authentication page I get Oks on everything and it finds my domain. The problem is when I browse to the WindowsSignin.aspx and I’m prompted for my domain credentials it just redirects to login page. Also, when I try to manually login by choosing the Windows Login button and entering my credentials I constantly get a Login Failed error. I’m entering my credentials correctly.. domain\user with the correct password. The domain user that I’m using is an Administrator on webserver. It’s also the same user that the site is using for impersonation and the same user that the Active Directory provider is set up to use. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Ryan

Hi Ryan

I need more information about your webserver (OS/IIS version). The only times I've seen something similar (redirect to the DNN login page) was running on Vista/IIS7 in the Integrated Pipeline mode.

When you manually enter your credentials, how long is your password? By default DNN wants a 7 character password (this can be changed in the web.config). When AD is automatically logging the user in this is bypassed but not on manual logins.

Thanks for the quick response. It's a Win2003 with IIS6. My password is 7 characters but the minimum length in the web.config is 4 with no special characters required.

You put me on the right track and I found the problem. It seems to be because I require unique emails and the email address of my AD user was blank. I had an Email Domain setup in Active Directory settings. Is that setting supposed to make it automatically give it and email based on the user name?

Thanks, Ryan
