I have the exact problem (I think). I am able to register but when I hit the login button I get the same problem ( A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.).

I am not on Network Solutions. I have 4.8 and it was installed by the hosting company WEBHOST4LIFE.

It worked perfectly until I made a change to the admin skin in "HOST SETTING" . I deleted the skin files so it would go to the default DNN skin But I STILL CAN"T GET TO THE LOGIN SCREEN.

Help

My login error was solved by the support group at WEBHOST4LIFE in less than 2 hours after I reported it to them. This is my first site with them and I am impressed with the quick response.

The response is pasted below:

Dear client, I have checked that your dnn site has disabled the authentication, I have re enabled for you, and the login page is working now, please give a check.
