I am using DNN 4.7 and I want to uninstall some unused modules such as the Store.  When I do, the DLLs are left in the bin folder.  I want to remove unused DLLs as it should help the initial load time of my web site.  With most modules it is clear which DLLs go with them by the naming convention.  Does anybody have a list of required DLLs or  their associated functionality.

Thanks in advance.

It is not really possible to list all of the dlls that are needed as many of your third party modules might have their own.  if you are looking to do a cleanup, you can look at a new clean copy of dnn 4.7 and see which DLLs are there, but I would caution that you might be prepared to re-add the dll files if you remove something that you shouldn't.

Also, when you uninstall, it should remove the dll's if you choose "Delete Files"

I'd just check the box "remove files" when you pick uninstall on the modules management page, thats supposed to(if properly manifested install) remove all the files that were installed when the module was installed.

Aren't modules supposed to put thier DLLs in the app_code folder and not the BIN??  I thought they just went in BIN when you complied you own module...

dunno..just my two cents.

Josh,

DNN4 modules in WSP format shall place their class code in a private folder inside /app_code, but all DNN4 modules in WAP format and DNN3 modules still use /bin folder.

John,

if you have all install packages for all modules you want to keep, you can remove /bin and /desktopmodules folder completely, followed by unzipping DNN install package and subsequently installing all modules. If you are using language packs for modules, you will need to reapply them as well. Don't forget to start with a full backup!!!
