Hi,

I just finished installing the newest release of DNN. The installation wizard ran like a well oiled machine and I was happy as a pig in .....! However, once the installation was completed, it asked me to "Click Here To Go To Your Portal". When I did that I got the following error.

Stack Trace:

[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]
   DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewriteModule.RewriteUrl(HttpApplication app) +378
   DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewriteModule.OnBeginRequest(Object s, EventArgs e) +1172
   System.Web.SyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +92
   System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +64

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.832; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.832

I have no idea what this means or even where to begin to look.

Thanks in advance for any help on resolving this issue,

Pat

Maybe you just clicked too fast. :)

Did you try it again? What happens when you use the normal url to your site?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I tried several times at 30 minute intervals. Unfortunately, I am not able to recycle my application pool so I asked my ISP to do that for me. I will be trying again later today.

One thing to note is that I am using a temporary URL provided by my ISP until the domain is resolved.

Cheers,

Pat

Still getting this error.

Is there any way to disable URL rewriting?

Cheers,

Pat

You can change Friendly URLs in Host Settings, but you still need access to the site.  Have you tried using the actual IP address, or a sub-subdomain (http://host.www.domain.com) which should default to the host portal?
