Hi,

I created an application with DNN 4.0.2 and tried to host it in my web server. I created a WEBSITE and assigned an IP to it and then i pointed it to my application. While i tried to browse the application with the corresponding IP which i assigned to the website, the progress bar of browser keeps on flickering for a long time, showing no page.

Also i added the IP of this website to the portalalias table. While i checked the "SQL Profiler", the SP - "exec dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID @PortalID=0" getting called continuously.

And this problem is not with my application. I tried with the DNN 4.0.2 application alone by creating a WEBSITE for it. It also created the same problem as i stated above. This problem is not only with DNN 4.0.2, even i tried with  DNN 3.1.1

Note: I created a VIRTUAL DIRECTORY and pointed to the same application as i did for website. It works fine!!!.

Im really wondering why this problem for WEBSITE alone? Is there any settings inside DNN while creating website?

Im expecting the solution from the DNN community. Its very urgent.

Thanks In Advance,
Vikiboye

Hi Vikiboye,

Sound to me that you've forgot to add portal alias's for the site that it will be using from the actual web server. By default one will be added when DNN is installed - e.g. if you installed it locally first then it'll probably be something like localhost/virtualdirectory.

If you've got the site running in a virtual directory again then you can add the aliases via logging as a superuser (host), going to the Host > Portals menu item; click edit icon for your portal; at the bottom you'll notice a "Portal Aliases" section - simply click "Add HTTP Alias"; then add the IP address for your live site or the domain name in use (or both).

Alternatively, you colud go straight into the PortalAlias table (can't remember exact table name off the top of my head, but should be something similar), and add some aliases manually.

Hope this helps?

Gav ;)
