Hi to everyone,

I've just updated my dnn installation from 4.5.3 to 4.8.2 and now I've the same error message as in the subject of this post. (Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication' ......).

Can anyone support me?

thanks

Eddie

Have you removed the old Authentication dlls from the bin directory?

No, I haven't removed any old dlls but I noticed that I had an issue updating the 4.5.1 installation. So I restored the old site and the reupdated to 4.8.2 with no errors. (it was a file permission problems).

After installing the AD authentication package everything seems to work. The strange thing is that I don't need to uncomment that line anymore...is it right? In the previous installation I had to...

<!--add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" / -->

Thanks

Edoardo

That's right. The provider changed with DNN 4.6 and if you look at the bottom of the <httpModules> section you'll see the new line that was added when you installed the provider.
