Hello,

this is a newbie posting, so please don't flame me at once ;-) . I did try to find this information, but without much success.

  • I intend to use DNN in an intranet context, with automatic AD authentication. I've been able to do so quite successfuly, but then I need to add pages (sites), modifiy the structure of a page, etc... In an installation context, this can be done with the host or admin login. How can I do it with automatic AD authentication? Are there any configuration I should make before activing AD authentication?
  • one of the nice ways to leverage the AD authentication, is to define and use use Local groups (to the server), in which I place gloabl groups (from AD), in which I place users. I can thus define permissions in DNN for these local groups. Does it work? I think I saw some posting suggesting that this case wasn't supported yet. Any comment?

Thank you in advance for your kind help...

With kind regards,

Emmanuel

When using the AD provider with automatic login you can still log out and log back in with DNN credentials (host/admin) though eventually you will be logged out and the Windows user will be logged in again. To get around that on our school's site I opened the Users table in the database and manually set my user account to a SuperUser.

I've never attempted your second question. Why not just just create the roles from the AD in DNN directly (as described in the documentation) instead of the extra step of creating the groups locally on your server and then recreating those roles in your DNN install?
